This page outlines the requirements for EELQMS compliance and supporting ACEA performance claims.
Participation in the EELQMS implies a commitment to market, develop and manufacture those engine lubricants for which compliance with ACEA Oil Sequences will be claimed, or to have such engine lubricants developed or blended by third parties, in accordance with its guidelines. The graphic below shows the key steps in an engine lubricant development programme that meets the requirements of the EELQMS.
1
Key Responsible Party: Lubricant Marketer or Developer
Determined by business requirements and the performance limits of the ACEA Oil Sequence Categories that need to be met.
2
Key Responsible Party: Lubricant Developer
Typically developed by an additive company in accordance with the the ATC and ATIEL Codes of Practice. The performance of the initial formulation is demonstrated in a Candidate Data Package.
3
Key Responsible Party: Lubricant Developer
Modifications may or may not be required to optimise formulations, address regional base oil availability or broaden grade ranges – any such modifications should follow guidelines in the ATIEL and ATC Codes of Practice and should result in a set of Programme Extension Data.
4
Key Responsible Party: Lubricant Developer
The combination of the Candidate Data package plus any Programme Extension Data produces a Final ACEA Performance Dataset supported by all necessary test data.
5
Key Responsible Party: Lubricant Manufacturer
Manufacturing should take place in a plant accredited to a suitable Manufacturing Quality Management System to ensure that final products meet the specification set out in the Final Performance Dataset.
6
Key Responsible Party: Lubricant Marketer
The lubricant marketer signs and submits a Letter of Conformance to ATIEL to confirm they have complied with ALL the requirements of the EELQMS.
7
Key Responsible Party: Lubricant Marketer
Sufficient records should be kept to enable independent assessment of relevant processes by internal and/or external auditors to confirm compliance with Codes of Practice.
